Two separation stages in one compact housing
The grinding circuits´ efficiency is especially limited by the efficiency of the separator. Due to the special requirements of the separation system within a High Pressure Grinding Roll (HPGR) circuit, Köppern developed the 2-Stage Koesep.
The patented set-up of this special separator combines a deagglomeration and coarse separation in a static cascade classifying stage with a fine separation in a high efficiency dymanic classifying stage. The special feature of the 2-Stage Koesep is the very compact design. Therefore it is also well suited to upgrade existing grinding plants.
With the 2-Stage Koesep the HPGR can be operated in semi-finish grinding mode with one separator only. Particles with product fineness are discharged from the grinding circuit early, the ball mill is relieved. This results in a lower specific energy consumption of the whole grinding system and an increased overall throughput.
Research and Development
High-pressure comminution and separation process research is a fundamental element of process design in the cement and ore mining industry. Köppern has several semi-industrial pilot-plant facilities installed at the Bergakademie Freiberg, the University of British Columbia (Canada), ALS Ammtec (Perth, Australia) and TOMS (Irkutsk, Russia).
